Well, this is a long overdue post.
It was right after block tests.
Some of the guys were in school playing basketball.
While some were just slacking around.
It was a refreshing change when compared to the many days of mugging.
On next basketball court, the sports class and some soccer players were playing soccer.
115, coming out triumphant during the earlier encounter with 116, couldn't resist the unquenchable urge to play soccer again.
So, after some disscussion, we decided to play 'Winners in, Losers out.'
We formed teams of 5 and started playing.
It was a one goal match.
Which meant that every match would end as soon a goal was scored.
We played 4 matches that day, and team 115 never lost.
The first game was won with a goal by Janson, a picture perfect header.
The second game started off well, until Janson had to go.
Derrick substituted him.
Of the 5 people on team 115, 2 were in team colours, donning the class jersey.
The second game should have been won easily with a smart move, ending with Will scoring with a well-placed shot, getting on the scoresheet. And number 12 on his back would live on throughout history. However, they changed it to a two-goal match, hoping they could somehow catch up.
Well, they were to be dissapointed after a slicing throughball unlocked their defense, and for Derrick, donning the number 19 jersey, to cooly slot it pass the keeper.
Game 2 was over.
Game 3 started and clearly, team 115 was starting to feel the strain of playing 3 straight matches, but held on.
With hanshen being an impervious rock in defense there was no getting past him today.
As the 10 minute timing started to expire, Derrick, out of the blue, stormed down the flank. The number 19 cut back infeild to cooling execute a well controlled chip to evade the man between the posts.
The 3rd game was over.
Game 4 was under-way before team 115 knew it.
The opponents in game 4 would be a star-studded team of the best performers from the other 2 teams. The weary team 115 begun an uphill task of trying to oust the other team out of contention. The tiredness of the players proved too much, but they were able to hold their concentration, and their performance was rewarded with a draw, And as fate would have it, game 4 was to be decided by a shoot-out.
Derrick started the ball rolling by stepping up to the plate, and taking the 1st shot. But, his shot was off target. The next was hanshen, who cooling curled the ball into the goal. Will also scored from the spot with a left-foot curler. The other team's penalty takers were all off target.
